AMFI elects Sundeep Sikka as chairman, Vishal Kapoor as vice-chairman

MUMBAI – The board members of Association of Mutual Funds in India Thursday announced the election of Sundeep Sikka as its new chairman and Vishal Kapoor as vice chairman. The newly-elected officials will take charge immediately, the organisation said in a press release.
Sikka is the executive director and chief executive officer at Nippon Life India Asset Management Ltd. Kapoor is the chief executive officer at Bandhan Asset Management Co., the release said. Sikka was chairman of AMFI from 2013 to 2015 and has been a member of the board since 2009, the release said. Kapoor has been on the AMFI board since 2018, the release said.
"Our priority will be to expand the reach of mutual funds across geographies, strengthen investor confidence through transparency and trust, and work closely with SEBI and policymakers to advance financial inclusion," Sikka said in the release.
Going forward, the association will focus on simplifying access, with focus on first-time investors, Kapoor said in the release. "Strengthening and expanding the reach of distributors and advisors will be an important element in broadening investor participation across the country," he said.
Navneet Munot, the managing director and chief executive officer of HDFC Asset Management Co., is the outgoing chairman and Anthony Heredia, the managing director and chief executive officer of Mahindra Manulife Mutual Fund, is the outgoing vice chairman, the release said. End
