The weather system is likely to move west northwestwards across north Odisha adjoining Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours.

Extremely heavy rainfall is likely over west Madhya Pradesh Friday, for which the weather bureau has issued a red alert. The alert indicates rainfall exceeding 204.5 millimetres in 24 hours and is the highest level of weather warning. The weather department has also issued an orange alert in west Madhya Pradesh due to very heavy rainfall till Thursday. An orange alert is for rainfall forecast exceeding 115.6 millimetres and going up to 204.4 millimetres within 24 hours.

Monsoon is also active over parts of west India, the weather department said. It has issued a red alert for the Gujarat region Thursday and Friday due to extremely heavy rainfall. A few parts of Gujarat are likely to receive extremely heavy showers rest of this week. The weather bureau also sees isolated heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa, and central Maharashtra during the week.

There is also an upper air cyclonic circulation over south Haryana. This is likely to cause isolated very heavy rainfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on Wednesday, east Rajasthan till Friday and west Rajasthan on Saturday and Sunday. The weather bureau also sees isolated heavy rainfall continuing over Uttarakhand till Tuesday, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Thursday and Tuesday, west Rajasthan on Friday and Monday, and East Rajasthan on Saturday.  End
