MUMBAI – Indus Towers Ltd. Tuesday said its board has approved a plan to enter the African markets, beginning with Nigeria, Uganda, and Zambia. The company will anchor customer relationship with Bharti Airtel Ltd. to establish a strong and competitive presence in these regions, it said in an exchange filing. It will also evaluate expansion opportunities in other African markets where Bharti Airtel has a presence, it added.
These African markets offer attractive prospects for revenue diversification, operational scalability, and long-term value creation, the tower company said. "By leveraging our expertise in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions, we are well-positioned to differentiate ourselves in Africa's fast-growing telecom market and emerge as the preferred tower company," Indus Towers Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Prachur Sah was quoted as saying in the exchange filing.
For the June quarter, Indus Towers had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 17.37 billion on a revenue of INR 80.58 billion. Its shares closed at INR 329.45 Tuesday on the National Stock Exchange, down 2.9%. End
