--Great Eastern Shipping to buy dry bulk carrier of 81,922 deadweight tonnage 

MUMBAI – Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. Tuesday said it will buy Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier of about 81,922 deadweight tonnage to expand its fleet. The funds to buy this ship will be raised through internal accruals, it said in an exchange filing. This carrier was built in 2016 and is expected to join the company's fleet by the December quarter, it said. 

The company also said two more ships are expected to join its fleet in the December quarter; one is a second-hand Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier and another one is a Suezmax crude carrier. After the delivery of these three vessels, the company will have 41 vessels aggregating 3.37 million deadweight tonnage, it said. 

Great Eastern Shipping currently owns 38 vessels, comprising 26 tankers and 12 dry bulk carriers aggregating 3.04 million deadweight tonnage. The company's current capacity utilisation is close to 100%, it said. 

For the quarter ended June, the company had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 5.05 billion on revenue of INR 12.01 billion. Its shares closed at INR 960.60 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.4%. End
