India gets 21% above normal rainfall at 8.6 mm Saturday, says IMD

MUMBAI – India received 8.6 millimetres of rainfall Saturday, 21?ove the normal of 7.1 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Since Jun. 1, the country has recorded 6?ove normal rainfall at 736.0 millimetres.
Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, three received above normal showers while one recorded below normal rainfall. The northwest India recorded a whopping 145?ove normal rainfall at 10.1 millimetres, data from the weather department showed. Of the nine sub-divisions in the region, seven recorded "large excess" rainfall.
South Peninsula India received 5.4 millimetres of rainfall, 3?ove normal. Rainfall in east and northeast India was 5?ove normal at 9.6 millimetres. In central India, rainfall was 13?low normal at 8.6 millimetres, the data showed.
Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall on Saturday was "large excess" in 13, "excess" in three, "normal" in nine, "deficient" in four, and "large deficient" in seven subdivisions. End
