NEW DELHI – Reliance Industries Ltd. has formed a new wholly-owned subsidiary Reliance Intelligence, Chairman Mukesh Ambani said at the company's annual general meeting Friday. Reliance Intelligence will house artificial intelligence infrastructure, and build gigawatt-scale and AI-ready data centres, he said.

"Work has already begun on the gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar," said Mukesh Ambani. These facilities will be delivered in phases, he said. Reliance Intelligence will bring "the world's best tech-companies and open-source communities together," the chairman said.

Reliance Intelligence "has the potential to grow larger than our existing business segments" in the future, Mukesh Ambani said.

RIL Friday announced a joint venture with Meta Platforms to build enterprise artificial intelligence solutions for Indian and international companies. Under the joint venture agreement, RIL and Meta "have jointly committed to" an initial investment of around INR 8.55 billion (around $100 million), RIL said in a press release. The investment will capitalise the joint venture in the ratio of 70% for RIL and 30% for Meta, it said. "This partnership combines Meta's opensource Llama models with RIL's digital backbone to deliver enterprisegrade AI," RIL said in the press release.

The RIL chairman said the company was investing "to make India a leader in human-centric robotics powered by AI, creating new types of industries and services, new types of agriculture, new types of jobs, and attractive new opportunities for our youth."

The chairman also announced the expansion of RIL's strategic partnership with Google Cloud to deploy AI-driven solutions. The partnership between the two companies will help all of RIL's businesses transform using AI.

"RIL will design, build, and power the state-of-the-art cloud facility and associated network infrastructure at Jamnagar. The cloud region will be fully compliant with Google Cloud's global specifications and service-level standards, to enable the most demanding AI workloads," the company said in a separate press release announcing the collaboration. Reliance Jio will provide high-capacity intra, and inter, metro fiber connectivity linking Jamnagar to key metros such as Mumbai and Delhi, according to the company's press release.

On Friday, shares of RIL closed at INR 1,357.20, down 2.1%, on the National Stock Exchange.  End
