UP, Maharashtra lead auto despatches across all segments in Apr-Jun - SIAM

NEW DELHI – Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh accounted for the highest number of automobile units sold to dealerships in the first quarter of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) across all segments, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said in a release Friday.
Uttar Pradesh took the lead in two-wheeler despatches in the June quarter as dealerships in the state sold 818,000 units. Overall, automobile companies had sold 4.70 million two-wheelers in the quarter ended Jun. 30. Western India led again in terms of sales, accounting for over 30% of the overall two-wheeler sales. Maharashtra accounted for over 10% of aggregate sales, followed by Tamil Nadu accounting for 7.3% of sales, and Bihar with 6.9%.
Of the 1.01 million passenger vehicles sold in India in the June quarter, dealers in Maharashtra received 119,000 units, or nearly 12% of the overall sales, SIAM said. India's western zone accounted for the highest passenger vehicle despatches, at 321,000 units. Uttar Pradesh accounted for just over 11% of the overall wholesale sales, followed by Gujarat and Karnataka accounting for 7.6% and 7.2% of sales, respectively.
Of the 165,000 three-wheelers sold to dealerships in the June quarter, Uttar Pradesh received the most, at 21,000 units, or 13% of the overall sales. Maharashtra accounted for 11.5% of the three-wheelers sold in those three months, while Gujarat and Karnataka accounted for 9.4% and 8.9% of the sales, respectively. Region-wise, the southern zone saw the highest sales of three-wheelers, at 52,000 units.
Automobile companies despatched 223,000 commercial vehicles to dealerships in the June quarter. Of this, 32,000 units, or 14.2% were sold in Maharashtra, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu accounting for 8.6% and 8.5% of the sales, respectively. The western zone saw the highest demand for commercial vehicles as companies despatched 77,000 units in this region. End
