NEW DELHI – The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is looking to conduct the All-India Debt and Investment Survey and the Situation Assessment Survey of Agriculture Households in 2026. The ministry is looking to hold both surveys between July 2026 and June 2027, and has invited suggestions on conducting them.
The debt and investment survey is generally conducted after 10 years. The objective of the survey is to generate estimates on assets, debt, and capital expenditure of Indian households. The ministry had last conducted the debt and investment survey in 2019.
The survey will generate data on the percentage of households owning any assets, the average value of all physical and financial assets owned per household, the percentage of indebted households, and the average amount of debt.
The ministry will also conduct the Situation Assessment Survey, based on the agriculture ministry's request, to provide data on agricultural households in the country. The survey will assess agricultural households on their income, indebtedness, crop insurance, and awareness and access to government schemes. The last such survey was conducted in 2019. End
