Indian cos invest $3.51 bln in overseas JVs, arms in July, down 32% on month

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries fell nearly 32% on month to $3.51 billion in July from $5.14 billion in June, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Thursday. Indian companies had made overseas investments worth $3.32 billion in July last year.

 

Of the total overseas investments in July, companies invested $1.59 billion in equity, down 24% on month. Companies committed $305.94 million in loans in July against $592.42 million in the previous month. Companies also invested $1.61 billion through guarantees to their overseas arms and joint ventures, which was down by 34% on month. The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the RBI said.  End
