--Cabinet approves INR 83.07 bln for 6-lane ring road in Odisha
NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet approved INR 83.07 billion Tuesday for construction of a six-lane access-controlled capital region ring road in Odisha. The infra project would be completed in 30 months, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while announcing the decisions taken by the Cabinet.
Out of INR 83.07 billion approved for the infrastructure project, the government has earmarked INR 10.29 billion for land acquisition, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs said in a press release. The length of the road will be 110.88 km, the release added.
The project will generate 7.44 million person-days of direct employment and 9.30 million person-days of indirect employment, according to the release. "The project will provide significant benefit to Odisha and other eastern states by diverting heavy commercial traffic away from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khordha cities," the release said. "This will enhance the efficiency of freight movement, reducing logistics cost and driving socio-economic growth in the region." End
