IMD sees extremely heavy rainfall in Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Saurashtra

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra from Saturday to Tuesday. Extremely heavy rainfall is also forecast in Gujarat on Saturday and again from Monday to Wednesday. Similar conditions are seen in Saurashtra on Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather bureau said.
The IMD has declared a red alert for Gujarat on Saturday; Konkan and Goa on Saturday; Madhya Maharashtra on Saturday and Sunday; and Telangana on Saturday and Sunday. It also sees heavy to very heavy rainfall continue over south peninsular India the next 4-5 days with extremely heavy rain over Telangana on Saturday and Sunday. Coastal Karnataka is seen having heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, and south interior Karnataka on Monday.
A fresh low Pressure area is likely to from over northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast around Monday leading to increase in rainfall over eastern and central India, the IMD said.
In South Peninsular India, extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in isolated places of Telangana on Saturday and Sunday, and in Coastal Karnataka on Monday, it said.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over East Rajasthan and Uttarakhand next week. In the Northeast region, isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura next week, it said.
The IMD has also issued flash flood warnings to a few areas in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada Met subdivisions. End
