--Trade secy: Oman FTA talks concluded, to sign deal soon

NEW DELHI – The negotiations for a free-trade agreement between India and Oman have concluded, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said Thursday. The two sides will sign the deal very soon, Barthwal added.

India had started negotiations for a free trade agreement with Oman in 2023. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, during his visit to Muscat in January, had met his Oman counterpart Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef and the two leaders had agreed to expedite the negotiations for a deal.

After the United Arab Emirates, Oman would be the second country from the Gulf Cooperation Council to have a free trade agreement with India. Oman had a total trade of $10.96 billion with India in 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), which included Indian exports worth $4.41 billion.  End
