MUMBAI – Jubilant Foodworks Ltd. reported robust growth in net profit in the June quarter as revenue rose marginally faster than expenses. The food services company reported a net profit of INR 667 million for the June quarter, up 29.5% on year and 34.9% from a quarter ago. However, the net profit was lower than the analysts' estimate of INR 704.13 million.
Jubilant Foodworks, the master franchisee of Domino's, reported revenue from operations of INR 17.02 billion, up 18.2% on year and 7.2% on quarter. The revenue from operations was also below the analysts' estimate of INR 18.40 billion. The growth in revenue was driven by the increased pace of innovation and strong order growth, the company said in its investor presentation.
Total expenses of the company rose 17.9% on year to INR 16.26 billion in the June quarter, driven by a 31.3% rise in cost of material consumed to INR 4.27 billion.
Operating earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of the company rose over 16% on year to INR 3.23 billion in the June quarter. The EBITDA margin fell to 19.0% in Apr-Jun from 19.3% a year ago. More
The revenue from Domino's India rose 17.7% on year in the June quarter, driven by strong order growth of 17.3% on year across all tiers. The like-for-like growth in Domino's India revenue was 11.6% on year, the company said.
Domino's India stores rose to 2,240 as on Jun 30 from 2,179 stores a quarter ago. The company opened 61 net new stores and entered nine new cities during the quarter. It has also launched several varieties to its menu, the company said. The revenue from the delivery channel rose 24.6% and from the dine-in channel rose 2.5% mainly driven by lunch hour meals, the company said.
Internationally, Jubilant FoodWorks added 13 net stores across all brands, ending the period with 1,025 stores, the company said. Jubilant Foodworks has franchise rights for three global brands – Domino's, Popeyes, and Dunkin' – with operations largely in India and the rest in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The company also operates its own brands, India-based Hong's Kitchen and Turkey-based COFFY.
Wednesday, shares of Jubilant Foodworks ended at INR 639.75 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.1%. The company announced its earnings after market hours.
At the consolidated level, Jubilant Foodworks' revenue rose 17% on year to INR 22.61 billion. The consolidated EBITDA rose 14.3% on year to INR 4.38 billion in the June quarter and the EBITDA margin contracted to 19.4% from 19.8% a year ago. End
