India's gems, jewellery exports up 16% on year at $2.18 bln in Jul

MUMBAI – India's gross exports of gems and jewellery rose nearly 16% on year to $2.18 billion in July and gross imports were up nearly 27% on year to $1.81 billion, according to data from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The country's gross gems and jewellery exports during Apr-Jul fell 0.1% to $8.79 billion while gross imports rose over 4% to $7.19 billion.
Overall exports of cut and polished diamonds rose nearly 18% on year to $1.07 billion in July while imports were up over 32% on year to $113.75 million. In the first four months of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), exports and imports of cut and polished diamonds fell nearly 15% on year to $3.91 billion and $332.2 million, respectively. Apr-Jul. Export of polished lab-grown diamonds rose nearly 28% on year to $122.43 million in July.
India exported $813.77 million worth gold jewellery in July, up over 16% on year. Exports of gold jewellery in Apr-Jul rose nearly 24% to $3.67 billion. Silver jewellery exports in Apr-Jul declined over 2% to $281.2 million. Exports of platinum jewellery during the same period rose over 14% on year to $65.18 million, according to the council. End
