MUMBAI – PI Industries Ltd. reported a lower than expected net profit and revenue for the June quarter. The company also saw a substantial fall in its cost of raw materials consumed, which led to a drop in total expenses. In absolute terms, the fall in revenue was larger than the fall in expenses and this dragged down the net profit by 7%.
PI Industries' net profit for the June quarter fell 7% on year to INR 4.64 billion, marginally underperforming analysts' consensus estimate of INR 4.69 billion. The agrochemicals producer posted a net revenue of INR 17.69 billion, down 12% on year, significantly lower than the Street's estimate of INR 22.80 billion.
The company incurred total expenses of INR 12.68 billion in the June quarter, down more than 12% on year. The cost of raw materials was INR 7.07 billion, down 13% on year. Employee benefit expense was INR 1.65 billion, up marginally on year. The company's other expenses rose 8% on year to INR 2.71 billion.
Tuesday, shares of PI Industries closed at INR 3,837.90, down marginally on the National Stock Exchange. The company declared its June quarter results post market hours. End
