NEW DELHI – State-owned Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. Tuesday reported a fifth straight quarter of year-on-year decline in its top line and bottom line with weak results for the June quarter. The decline in the public sector enterprise's net profit during the June quarter was the sharpest since at least the March quarter of 2018-2019 (Apr-Mar), data available with Informist showed.
Shares of the company fell immediately after the result announcement to INR 326.75 on the National Stock exchange, down 4.6%. They were down 0.8% prior to the announcement. They eventually closed Tuesday's session 3.8% lower at INR 329.45.
The Navratna company reported a net profit of INR 1.28 billion for the June quarter, down 41% on year and nearly 66% sequentially. Its revenue declined by over 3% on year and 38% sequentially to INR 39.25 billion during the three months. Other income of the company also declined over 23% on year in Apr-Jun to INR 2.01 billion.
Total expenses of the company declined almost 2% on year in the June quarter to INR 39.63 billion. The was led by a 21% on-year fall in finance costs to INR 1.08 billion, followed by a near 3% decline in expenses on operations to INR 36.90 billion. However, other expenses of the company surged 113% on year to INR 1.08 billion in Apr-Jun and its employee benefit expense clocked a 6% uptick at INR 489 million during the quarter. End
