NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Friday approved four-laning of the Marakkanam–Puducherry highway in Tamil Nadu. The project will be developed on a hybrid annuity mode with a total capital cost of INR 21.57 billion, the government said.

"Currently, connectivity between Chennai, Puducherry Viluppuram and Nagapattinam is dependent on existing 2-lane national highway 332A and associated state highways, which experience significant congestion due to high traffic volumes, especially in densely populated stretches and key towns along the corridor," the government said in a release.

The project will integrate two major national highways and two state highways. It will provide seamless connectivity to key economic, social, and logistics nodes across Tamil Nadu, the government said.  End
