Heavy industries ministry extends EV adoption scheme by 2 more years

MUMBAI - The heavy industries ministry has extended the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement scheme by two more years till Mar. 31, 2028. However, the terminal date for registered electric two-wheelers, electric rickshaws, electric carts, and electric three-wheelers will be Mar. 31, 2026, the ministry said in a notification Thursday.
In case the funds for the scheme or its relevant sub-components are exhausted before the terminal date in 2028, the scheme or its relevant subcomponents will be closed, the ministry said in a notification Thursday. Last year in September, the Union Cabinet had approved an outlay of INR 109 billion over a period of two years. The scheme aims at faster adoption of electric vehicles, setting up charging infrastructure and development of EV manufacturing eco-system in the country. End
