Ramco Cement reports a sharp rise in Q1 net profit

MUMBAI – The Ramco Cement Ltd. reported a sharp jump in its net profit for the June quarter despite muted revenue growth. The company reported net profit of INR 860 million for the June quarter, up 142% on year and 178% higher on quarter. However, the company missed analysts' estimates of net profit of INR 980 million.
The company reported revenue from operations of INR 20.70 billion, down marginally on year and down 13.5% on quarter. The company also missed analysts' estimates on revenue of INR 22.20 billion.
The total expenditure of the company for the reporting quarter fell to INR 19.60 billion, down 4.32% from INR 20.49 billion in the year-ago quarter. The power and fuel expenditure fell to INR 5.03 billion, down 11% from INR 5.67 billion year ago. The cost of materials consumed increased by 9% to INR 3.60 billion from 3.30 billion a year ago. The cost of raw materials per tonne also increased by 7% on year to INR 1,056.
The company reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation, for the June quarter of INR 4.04 billion, up 23% on year from INR 3.28 billion year ago. The EBITDA reported by the company is lower than analysts' estimate of INR 4.25 billion. The EBITDA per tonne of the company rose to INR 981 per tonne from INR 752 per tonne in the year-ago quarter. The operating profit ratio for the June quarter was 19% against 16% in a year-ago quarter.
The company incurred capital expenditure of INR 3.21 billion in the reporting quarter, including maintenance capex. The capex for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) is expected to be INR 12 billion, the company said. The company's total sales of cement declined to 3.99 million tonnes, down 7% on year from 4.29 million tonnes, due to the early onset of the monsoon.
Thursday, shares of The Ramco Cements closed at INR 1,136.90 on the NSE, down 1.08%. End
