MUMBAI – Bayer CropScience Ltd. reported robust sequential and year-on-year growth in its top line. The company also reported strong quarterly growth in its net profit despite its expenses rising over 75% from the previous quarter.

The company reported a 10% on-year growth in its standalone net profit to INR 2.79 billion for the June quarter, lower than the INR 3.16 billion analysts had expected. The total revenue from operations rose 17% on year to INR 19.15 billion, slightly higher than the INR 18.21 billion expected by analysts. Sequentially, the company's net profit jumped 95% and revenue rose 83%.

The total expenses of the company were INR 15.98 billion for the reporting quarter, up 19% on year and up 75% on quarter. The rise in expenses was led by a sharp increase in the cost of materials, which rose 23% on year to INR 10.40 billion. The company's other expenses grew 25% on year and 46% sequentially to INR 2.91 billion while employee benefit expenses rose 5% on year to INR 1.04 billion.

Wednesday, shares of Bayer CropScience closed 4.1% lower at INR 6,019 on the National Stock Exchange. The company announced its quarterly earnings during market hours.  End
