MUMBAI – Uno Minda Ltd. reported strong growth in net profit and revenue from operations for the June quarter despite total expenses rising sharply on year due to an increase in raw material and employee costs. The automobile components and systems manufacturer beat the Street's expectations on both the bottom line and the top line.
The company reported a net profit of INR 2.91 billion for the June quarter, up over 46% on year. Its revenue from operations was INR 44.89 billion, up nearly 18% on year.
The company's total expenses, on the other hand, rose nearly 16% on year to INR 41.49 billion, driven mainly by an increase of over 18% on year in raw material costs and almost 21% on year in employee expenses. Raw material costs for the quarter rose to INR 26.64 billion from INR 22.48 billion a year ago. Employee costs rose to INR 6.24 billion from INR 5.16 billion in the corresponding quarter in 2024. The company's other expenses rose 12% to INR 4.86 billion from INR 4.33 billion a year ago.
Uno Minda reported consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 5.43 billion, up 33% on year. The company's EBIDTA margin for the reporting quarter was 12.1%, up 142 bps from a year ago.
"The automotive industry is undergoing seismic transformation driven by electrification, digitalisation, safety, and premiumisation," Ravi Mehra, Uno Minda's managing director, said in a press release.
Revenue from the switches segment rose 16% on year to INR 11.11 billion. Revenue from the lighting segment rose 13% on year to INR 10.13 billion. Revenue from the castings segment rose 10% on year to INR 8.24 billion. Revenue from the "others" segment rose 30% on year to INR 9.66 billion. Four-wheelers accounted for 47% of the company's revenue and two-wheelers for 46%.
Wednesday, shares of Uno Minda closed marginally 1.5% down at INR 1,086.40. The company released its financial results during market hours. End
