MUMBAI – NCC Ltd. Tuesday reported an on-year fall in net profit for the June quarter as the decline in revenue outstripped the fall in expenses. The company's revenue from operations fell and this dragged down the total income of the company despite an increase in other income. Expenses fell in the latest quarter as raw material costs and subcontractor costs fell sharply, but construction expenses and employee expenses rose. As a result, the company missed analysts' estimate for both the top line as well as bottom line.
The construction company reported a net profit of INR 1.90 billion for the June quarter, down 5.3% on year and 11.3% over the trailing quarter. Analysts had expected the company to report a net profit of INR 2.21 billion. NCC reported a revenue of INR 43.78 billion, down 7.1% on year and down 18.6% on quarter. Analysts had expected it report a top line of INR 52.67 billion in Apr-Jun.
NCC's total expenditure for the June quarter was INR 41.89 billon, down 6.5% on year, because of a 9.7% on-year fall in the cost of materials consumed to INR 17.69 billion. The cost of materials consumed accounted for 42% of the company's total expenditure for the reporting quarter. The company's sub-contractor cost fell almost 13% on year to INR 14.95 billion, which also accounted for the fall in expenditure posted by the company for the June quarter. Its finance costs were INR 1.51 billion, down marginally on year. Construction expenses for the quarter rose 29% to INR 4.38 billion while employee costs rose 11% to INR 1.95 billion.
The company reported an earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 3.95 billion, down 10% on year for the June quarter. The company said it had secured orders of INR 36.58 billion in the June quarter, taking the total order book to INR 700.87 billion.
On Tuesday, shares of the company ended at INR 211.01, down marginally. NCC released its quarterly results post market hours. End
