MUMBAI – The government has extended the anti-dumping duty on 'black toner in powder form' imported from China, Malaysia, and Taiwan for five years, the finance ministry said in a notification Monday. The duty was initially imposed for six months in August 2020, but was later extended for five years till August 2025.
The duty will range from $159 per tonne to $1,568 per tonne, the ministry said. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies in May had recommended continued imposition of the anti-dumping duty on imports of 'black toner in powder form' from China, Malaysia, and Taiwan to remove injury to the domestic industry.
In its investigation, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies found continued dumping of the black toner from the three countries despite the duty being in place for nearly five years. There is strong likelihood of diversion of exports of black toner from these countries to India if the existing anti-dumping measure ceases to exist, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies had said.
