MUMBAI - Kansai Nerolac Ltd. Monday reported a marginal decline in its net profit for the June quarter though it beat Street expectations of INR 2.23 billion. The profit fell as revenue from operations was flat, while total expenses rose at a much faster clip.
Kansai Nerolac reported a net profit of INR 2.31 billion for the June quarter, down 4.3% on year. The company's revenue from operations for the June quarter was INR 20.87 billion, marginally higher on year but slightly lower than analysts' estimate of INR 21.69 billion. The total expenses of the company rose nearly 4% on year to INR 18.30 billion. The cost of raw materials increased to INR 11.26 billion, up 3% from the year-ago quarter.
Other expenses were INR 3.22 billion, up 3% on year. The company reported its EBITDA at INR 3.12 billion, down 6.7% on year. The company's finance cost was INR 36 million, up 6% on year. Purchase of stock in trade was INR 1.38 billion, up 13% from INR 1.22 billion in the year-ago qaurter.
"During the quarter, demand for decoratives showed signs of revival though an early monsoon impacted during the later part of the quarter. KNP decorative performance was affected due to the disturbance in April which impacted key markets in the North," Pravin Chaudhari, managing director of Kansai Nerolac, said in a press release.
Shares of the company ended at INR 243.97 on the National Stock Exchange on Monday, down 2.4%, before the company detailed its earnings. End
