--Govt allocates 5,841 tn sugar exports to EU under tariff rate quota '25-26

NEW DELHI - The government has allocated 5,841 tonnes of sugar for exports to the European Union under the tariff rate quota for 2025-26 (Oct–Sept), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification Friday.

This quota is part of India's commitment under its trade arrangement with the European Union, and similar allocations have been made in previous years. The government is yet to announce its sugar export policy for the upcoming sugar season starting in October. In 2024-25, the government allowed mills to export 1 million tonnes of sugar, of which about 723,000 tonnes have been shipped out.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority will act as the implementing agency for the tariff rate quota, handling certification and quantity eligibility for exporters.  End
