Hyundai Motor India's despatches fall 7% in July on weak domestic sales

NEW DELHI – Hyundai Motor India Ltd. sold 60,073 units to dealers in July, comprising 43,973 units in India and exports of 16,100 units, it said in an exchange filing. According to media reports, the company had sold 64,563 units in the same month last year, which translates to a 7?ll in July.
The company's domestic sales likely fell over 10%, while its exports grew 3.5% in July. Sport utility vehicles contributed 72% to the Creta maker's domestic sales last month, a record high for the company. "While the overall auto industry has seen some softness in recent months, we remain optimistic with the onset of the festive season and are fully geared up with robust supply and exciting product offerings," Hyundai Motor India's Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said in a press release.
For the June quarter, the company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 13.7 billion on revenue of INR 161.8 billion. At 1458 IST, its shares traded 1.5% higher on the National Stock Exchange at INR 2,183. End
