Eicher Motorcycles' July motorcycle despatches growth hits 4-month high

NEW DELHI – Eicher Motors Ltd. Friday said it sold 88,045 Royal Enfield motorcycles to dealerships in July, 31% higher year-on-year, the strongest on-year growth since March. While domestic sales, too, grew to a four-month high, export growth was the strongest since November last year.
Eicher Motors sold 76,254 Royal Enfield-branded motorcycles in India last month, 25% higher on year. The company's international business saw sales of 11,791 units, nearly double that of 6,057 bikes sold last July. Despite registering an eight-month high growth in exports on-year, this was the lowest number of motorcycles sold abroad in the last three months.
Despatches of models with a capacity of up to 350 cubic centimetres increased by over 34% on year to 76,047 units while models with capacities over 350cc saw wholesale sales growing over 12% to 11,998 units.
The company has sold 353,573 motorcycles between April and July, 20% higher than the corresponding period a year ago. In the same period, its exports grew 72% to 48,540 units.
Eicher Motors has reported a consolidated net profit of INR 12.05 billion for the June quarter on revenues of INR 50.42 billion. At 1227 IST, its shares traded 1.3% higher on the National Stock Exchange at INR 5,541. End
