MUMBAI – Indraprastha Gas Ltd.'s net profit fell in the June quarter from a year ago due to a rise in the company's costs in natural gas purchases. The year-on-year fall in net profit was the most in nearly five years. The natural gas purchase costs rose the most in seven quarters in Apr-Jun.

Excise duty rose over 11% on year to INR 4.13 billion. The rise in the company's total expenses is due to higher natural gas prices during the quarter. The CNG volumes from Delhi account for almost 68% of the company's total sales, according to reports.
