IMD says rainfall across India was 42% above normal at 13.8 mm on Sunday

MUMBAI – India received 13.8 millimetres of rainfall on Sunday, 42% above the normal of 9.7 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, two received below-normal rainfall on Sunday while the other two recorded above-normal showers.
Rainfall in central India was 91% above normal at 22.0 millimetres, the data showed. The southern peninsula recorded 51% above normal rainfall at 9.8 millimetres. Rainfall in northwest India was 2% below normal at 7.7 millimetres. In east and northeast India, it was 12.9 millimetres, 2% below the normal of 13.2 millimetres, data showed.
Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in 11, "excess" in five, "normal" in five, "deficient" in five, and "large deficient" in 10 subdivisions.
From Jun. 1-Jul. 27, the country has received 440.1 millimetres of rain, 8% above the normal rainfall for the period, the data showed. End
