AHMEDABAD – Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. reported a consolidated net profit of INR 5.1 billion in the June quarter compared to a loss of INR 8.2 billion a year ago, helped by higher revenue from the transmission business and rising contribution from the company's smart metres business amid lower distribution revenue due to early monsoons. Sequentially, the net profit declined 20.8% during the quarter. The company's revenue rose 26.8% year-on-year to INR 68.2 billion during the quarter.
This is the 17th successive quarter that the company's net revenue has grown year-on-year and the fourth consecutive quarter of year-on-year increase in net profit. The net profit of Adani Energy Solutions had grown 79.1% on year in Jan-Mar.
The company's earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, and amortisation rose 14.5% on year to INR 20.17 billion in Apr-Jun on the back of resilient performance in the transmission and distribution segment and significant contribution from the smart metering business, the company said in a press release. The company's distribution revenue was soft in the June quarter due to the early monsoon, despite a fall in distribution loss to 4.2% from 5.2% a year ago. The peak demand during the quarter fell to 2,170 megawatts from 2,300 MW a year ago.
OPERATIONAL UPDATES
The company sold 2.94 billion units of electricity in Apr-Jun, marginally lower than 2.96 billion units a year ago due to the early onset of monsoon. However, the demand from residential customers increased.
The company's total transmission network length stood at 26,696 circuit kilometres at the end of the June quarter, up 26% from 21,187 circuit km a year ago, the company had said in a filing in early July. The rise of 5,509 circuit km over the year was led by new order wins, the company had said.
