NEW DELHI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. has attributed the trading outage of over an hour on Wednesday to repetitive database issues that hindered overnight clearing system processes. According to the exchange, the problem has been identified and corrective measures have been implemented to prevent similar disruptions in the future.

The exchange said that trading activity returned to normal shortly after the issue was resolved, with trading volumes reverting to "normal" levels throughout the day. To ensure the stability of its systems, the exchange has activated additional monitoring to detect and address any "one-off anomalies" that may arise, it said in a statement.

The exchange also said a full assessment of the incident was currently underway, assuring all necessary actions would be taken to prevent such disruptions in the future.

On Wednesday, trading on the exchange had halted. While the exchange in a statement on Wednesday said the trading started at 1015 IST, silver prices on the exchange opened at a new all-time high of INR 116,275 per kilogram at 0900 IST and trade stopped at 0902 IST, according to time and sales data available on the Cogencis terminal. At 1018 IST, shares of MCX were 1.2% lower at INR 8,158.50 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
