NEW DELHI – G. Kishan Reddy, the minister of coal and mines, on Wednesday said in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha that his ministry was not considering any proposal to merge Hindustan Copper Ltd., National Aluminium Co. Ltd., and Indian Rare Earths Ltd.
The question, raised by a Lok Sabha member, asked whether there was a plan to merge these companies into a single entity, potentially a National Critical Minerals Corporation, "to compete globally as China's dominance comes from state-backed monopolies like China Minmetals".
At 1450 IST, shares of Hindustan Copper were 1.1% higher at INR 275 while shares of Nalco traded 0.4% up at INR 197.49 on the National Stock Exchange. End
