MUMBAI – A cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge over north Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department said. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the region in the subsequent 48 hours, causing very heavy rainfall over parts of east and central India till Monday, the weather department said.
Heavy rainfall is also likely over several parts of east and central India till Monday, the weather department said. Light or moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kilometres per hour are expected over the region in the next seven days, with moderate lightning over Bihar likely on Thursday and Friday, the department said.
Under the influence of several weather systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over most parts of south peninsular India in the next six to seven days, the weather bureau said.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Konkan, Goa, and the ghat areas of central Maharashtra till Monday, the bureau said. Heavy rainfall is seen over Marathwada on Tuesday and Saturday, and over Gujarat on Tuesday and from Saturday to Monday, it said.
Parts of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to witness very heavy rainfall till Wednesday, the weather department said. Heavy rainfall is likely over most parts of northwest India till Monday, the department said. A wet spell with thunderstorms and lightning is seen over the western Himalayan region and over several parts of the northwestern plains over the next seven days, it said. End
