NEW DELHI – The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation net added a record high of 2.01 million subscribers in May, up 5% on month and 3% on year, the labour ministry said Monday. Of the net subscribers added in May, around 942,000 came under the social security cover of the EPFO for the first time.
Around 560,000 new members aged 18-25 years were added in May, up 15% on month. The first-time members included around 262,000 females, the ministry said.
The top five states accounted for about 60% of net payroll additions, or a total of around 1.20 million net additions, during the month. Maharashtra accounted for 20.3% of the net new members. The EPFO payroll data is provisional and subject to revision. End
