NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that the "good progress in the monsoon across the country" will benefit the economy. Modi was addressing the media in front of Parliament ahead of the commencement of Monsoon Session of Parliament that started Monday. The session is scheduled to conclude on Aug. 21.

He remarked that this session was a Vijay Utsav, a celebration of victory, as the Indian armed forces have shown their might to the world by achieving 100% success in Operation Sindoor. Modi also said the nation must celebrate its economic transformation that has taken place in the past 11 years. He noted that when his government came to power, India was part of the Fragile Five, but it has now embarked on a journey towards becoming the third-largest economy.

He asserted that over the past decade, a substantial reservoir of water has been created, significantly benefiting India's economy and promising continued growth in the future. Modi also celebrated his government's decisive actions against Naxalism, proclaiming that "red corridors are transforming into vibrant green growth zones." Acknowledging that the country has endured violent incidents, including terrorism and Naxalism for decades, he said the reach of Naxalism and Maoism is declining significantly.

With a renewed sense of purpose, security forces are actively working to eradicate Naxalism, the prime minister said. He said the country must take pride in the fact that numerous districts have been liberated from the grip of Naxalism, and these are now thriving. He noted that the Constitution is emerging victorious in this struggle against Naxalism.  End
