MUMBAI – India's oilmeal exports in June were down nearly 7% on year to 313,404 tonnes, according to data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India Thursday. Oilmeal exports in Apr-Jun were at 1.09 million tonnes, down nearly 1% from 1.10 million tonnes in the same period last year.

Exports of soymeal in June fell over 30% on year to 105,895 tonnes from 152,351 tonnes a year ago. In Apr-Jun, soymeal exports were at 493,439 tonnes, against 496,859 tonnes a year ago.

Exports of mustard meal rose over 15% on year to 184,064 tonnes in June, from 159,447 tonnes a year ago. In Apr-Jun, mustard meal exports were up at 531,650 tonnes from 523,521 tonnes a year ago.

Exports of castor seed meal fell to 19,257 tonnes in June from 21,388 tonnes a year ago, the association said. On the other hand, exports of groundnut meal rose to 4,188 tonnes in June from 2,009 tonnes the previous year.  

In Apr-Jun, a total of 228,037 tonnes of oilmeal was exported from the Kandla port, down from 359,912 tonnes a year ago. Exports from the Mundra port were at 355,181 tonnes, up from 270,386 tonnes in the year-ago period, according to the association. During the same period, exports from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai rose to 209,101 tonnes from 174,687 tonnes a year ago, it said. 

In Apr-Jun, India's oilmeal exports to Bangladesh fell 42% on year to 126,351 tonnes from 218,375 tonnes in the corresponding period the previous year, data showed. Exports to South Korea fell 23% on year to 145,189 tonnes, the data showed. Oilmeal exports to Vietnam rose to 58,067 tonnes from 55,420 tonnes a year ago, the data showed. 

India, in the first three months of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), exported 171,079 tonnes of soybean meal to West Asia and African countries. Exports to Kenya and Kuwait rose substantially on year, the association said.

In Apr-Jun, India exported nearly 529,490 tonnes of rapeseed meal, mainly to China, South Korea, Thailand, and Bangladesh. This helped domestic prices of rapeseed to stay above the minimum support price of INR 5,950 per 100 kg.

There were no rice bran meal exports in June. The government prohibited the export of de-oiled rice bran on Jul. 28, 2023. This initial ban was subsequently extended multiple times, with the most recent extension pushing the prohibition to Sept. 30. The ban is primarily aimed at stabilising domestic prices of cattle feed ingredients.
