India's Apr-Jun crude oil imports marginally lower at 62.1 mln tn

MUMBAI – India's crude oil imports in the first three months of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) fell marginally to 62.1 million tonnes from 62.3 million tonnes in the corresponding period a year ago, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a report. In value terms, India's crude oil imports in Apr-Jun fell nearly 19% year-on-year to $30.6 billion, according to the report.
India's crude oil imports in June rose more than 5% year-on-year to 19.8 million tonnes. The country's crude oil import bill in June fell over 13% on year to $9.7 billion, the report showed.
The country's dependency on crude oil imports in Apr-Jun increased to 89.4% compared with 87.9% in the corresponding period a year ago. Domestic crude oil production in Apr-Jun fell nearly 3% on year to 7.1 million tonnes while consumption of petroleum products rose slightly to 61.8 million tonnes, the data showed. The production of petroleum products in Apr-Jun was at 70.1 million tonnes, unchanged from a year ago.
The country's crude oil production in June was 2.3 million tonnes, slightly lower than a year ago. Production of petroleum products in June rose nearly 4% on year to 23.5 million tonnes while consumption of petroleum products rose 2% on year to 20.3 million tonnes, the data showed.
India's gross petroleum imports, including crude oil and petroleum products, rose marginally from a year ago to 74.5 million tonnes in Apr-Jun. The value of gross petroleum imports fell 16% on year to $36.4 billion, the data showed. India's exports of petroleum products fell over 3% on year to 14.5 million tonnes during Apr-Jun. The value of exports declined nearly 22% on year to $8.6 billion during the period. End
