Indian cos invest $5.03 bln in overseas JVs, arms in Jun, up 86% on month

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries rose over 86% on month to $5.03 billion in June from $2.70 billion in May, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday. Indian companies had made overseas investments worth $2.89 billion in June last year.
Of the total overseas investments in June, companies invested $2.04 billion in equity, sharply up from $987.13 million in the previous month. Companies committed $585.55 million in loans last month against $1.02 billion in May, and $2.41 billion through guarantees to their overseas arms and joint ventures, against $692.18 million in May. The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the RBI said. End
