--Crisil Ratings assigns AAA rating on Axis Bank's INR 80-bln infra bonds

NEW DELHI – Crisil Ratings has assigned a 'AAA' rating on Axis Bank's INR-80-billion infrastructure bonds with a stable outlook, the lender informed exchanges Tuesday. Crisil reaffirmed ratings on Axis Bank's other debt instruments, including a 'AAA' rating on the bank's Tier-II bonds aggregating INR 135 billion, and a 'AAA' rating on infrastructure bonds worth INR 277.75 billion.

"The overall ratings continue to reflect the bank's healthy capitalisation, strong market position and comfortable resource profile. These strengths are partly tempered by average asset quality," the rating agency said. The stable outlook on the Axis Bank's ratings suggests the lender will maintain its strong capital position, healthy resource profile, and comfortable earnings profile, Crisil said in its rating rationale report.

Axis Bank reported a net profit of INR 71.18 billion for the quarter ended March, down 0.2% on year. Shares of the bank Tuesday ended 0.6% lower at INR 1,165.90 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
