MUMBAI – Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of northwest India till Monday under the influence of a depression over Rajasthan and a western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department said. The low pressure area over northeast Rajasthan and the adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh intensified into a depression in the early hours of Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall is likely over most parts of northwest India till Monday, the weather department said. A wet spell with thunderstorms and lightning is seen over the western Himalayan region and over several parts of the northwestern plains over the next seven days, the bureau said.
There is a low to moderate risk of flash floods in the Baran, Jhalawar and Kota districts in east Rajasthan, and in the Churu, Jalor and Pali districts of west Rajasthan. There is also a possibility of surface runoff or inundation in some fully saturated soils and low-lying areas in the region, the weather bureau said.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over several parts of east and central India till Monday, the weather bureau said. In west India, very heavy rainfall is seen over some parts of Konkan and the ghat areas of central Maharashtra on Tuesday, while heavy rainfall is seen over parts of the same regions, along with Goa, till Monday, the bureau said.
In northeast India, heavy rainfall is seen over most parts till Monday, the weather department said. A wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is seen over the region in the next seven days, the department said.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and coastal and south Interior Karnataka till Monday, the weather bureau said. Heavy rainfall is seen over parts of north interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Telangana till Monday, the bureau said.
Hot and humid weather conditions are likely in parts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, and in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema till Wednesday, the weather department said. End
