Govt to issue norms for 1st time exporters under One District One Pdt scheme

NEW DELHI – The Commerce Ministry is set to issue new guidelines to promote first-time exporters and new markets under the One District, One Product initiative. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced this during the National ODOP 2024 Award ceremony in New Delhi. Goyal emphasised that the ministry would work closely with districts to support new exporters and promote one district, one product to newer markets, both domestically and internationally.
The ministry, according to a release, will soon release guidelines on promoting new markets, products, and exporters. The One District One Product scheme aims to promote and boost sale of indigenous and specialised products/crafts from each district. The scheme focuses on creating a network of product-specific traditional industrial hubs across districts, enhancing the economic landscape and generating employment.
Goyal, speaking at the one district one product programme said that India has diverse products that can be taken globally, citing examples like Wayanad's coffee, Ratnagiri mangoes, and saffron from Pulwama. He mentioned that India is the fastest-growing large economy and is expected to become the third-largest economy by 2027. End
