India's gems, jewellery exports fall 14% on year to $1.63 billion in June

MUMBAI – India's gross exports of gems and jewellery fell over 14% on year to $1.63 billion in June and gross imports fell 3% on year to $1.55 billion, according to data from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The country's gross gems and jewellery exports in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) fell over 5% to $6.48 billion and gross imports declined 2.3% to $5.34 billion.
Overall exports of cut and polished diamonds declined 23.5% on year to $778.78 million in June and imports fell 7% on year to $71.82 million. In the first three months of FY26, exports of cut and polished diamonds fell nearly 23% on year to $2.84 billion and imports fell 28% to $218.25 million. The country's import of rough diamonds fell over 5% to $3.22 billion in FY26. Export of polished lab-grown diamonds declined 25% on year to $66.67 million in June.
India exported $630.33 million of gold jewellery in June, up nearly 6% on year. Exports of gold jewellery in FY26 rose over 25% to $2.77 billion. Silver jewellery exports in FY26 declined 7% to $214.31 million. Exports of platinum jewellery in FY26 rose 13.6% on year to $45.67 million, according to the council. End
