--IMD: India Jun 1-Jul 11 rainfall at 289.2 mm, 12% above normal 

 

MUMBAI – India received 5.7 millimetres of rainfall Friday, 40% below the normal 9.5 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. All four homogeneous regions of the country received below-normal rainfall on Friday.

 

Northwest India recorded 6.2 millimetres of rainfall, 18% below the normal 7.5 millimetres, the data showed. Rainfall in southern peninsular India was 53% below normal at 3.1 millimetres, and central India received 34% below-normal rains at 6.5 millimetres. Eastern and northeast India recorded 6.0 millimetres of rainfall, 62% below the normal of 15.7 millimetres.

 

Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in one, "excess" in four, "normal" in four, "deficient" in 11, and "large deficient" in 16, data from the department showed.

 

Since Jun. 1, the country has received 289.2 millimetres of rain, 12% above the normal rainfall for the period, the data showed.  End
