--IMD: India Jul 9 rainfall at 9.6 mm, 10% above normal

--India Jun 1-Jul 9 rainfall at 273.9 mm, 15% above normal

 

MUMBAI – India received 9.6 millimetres of rainfall on Wednesday, 10% above the normal of 8.7 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Of the four homogeneous regions, two received above-normal rainfall while the other two recorded below-normal showers.

 

Central India received 13.5 millimetres of rainfall, 37% above the normal of 9.9 millimetres, the data showed. Rainfall in east and northeast India was 4% above normal at 15.2 millimetres. Northwest India received 3% below normal showers at 5.7 millimetres. The southern peninsula recorded 4.4 millimetres of rainfall, 33% below the normal of 6.5 millimetres. 

 

Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Wednesday was "large excess" in five, "excess" in three, "normal" in 12, "deficient" in eight, and "large deficient" in eight, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 15% above normal rainfall at 273.9 millimetres, the data showed.  End
