NEW DELHI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India Tuesday denied reports that it is considering a proposal to link equity options leverage limits to cash positions. "Apropos reports in some sections of media around supposed proposals to link option leverage limits to cash positions, it is clarified that no such proposal is currently under consideration," the market regulator said in a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
A CNBV-TV18 report had earlier in the day quoted sources as saying that SEBI was considering a formula-based mechanism to link leverage in options trading to investors' cash positions.
"As ever, SEBI will follow due process including transparent and public consultation around any proposed changes to any regulation or circular," SEBI said. End
