Tata Motors group Q1 wholesale sales fall 9% YoY on 10% decline in PV sales

NEW DELHI – The wholesale sales of Tata Motors Ltd. at the group level across all countries fell 9% on year to 299,664 units in the June quarter, the company said in a stock exchange filing Monday. It was also substantially lower than the 366,177 units of wholesale sales in the March quarter reported by the company on Apr. 8.
The fall was led by the global wholesale sales of the group's passenger vehicles, which fell 10% on year to 124,809 units and also sharply lower than 146,999 units sold on a wholesale basis in the March quarter. The group's global wholesale sales of commercial vehicles and Tata Daewoo range of vehicles was 87,569 units, down 6% on year, and lower than 107,765 units reported for the March quarter.
The company said Jaguar Land Rover's June quarter global wholesale sales was 87,286 units, down 11% on year. In the March quarter, JLR's wholesale volume was 111,413 units. The company said of the total wholesale sales of JLR, Jaguar's was 2,339 units and Land Rover's was 84,947 units. Jaguar's sales were 7,070 vehicles and that of Land Rover vehicles were 104,343, in the March quarter.
Tuesday, shares of Tata Motors ended 0.6% higher at INR 693.20 on the National Stock Exchange. End
