India Sun rainfall 40% above normal at 11.7 mm; 13% above normal since Jun 1

MUMBAI – India received 11.7 millimetres rainfall Sunday, 40% above the normal of 8.4 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Of the four homogeneous regions across the country, two received above-normal rainfall while the other two recorded below-normal showers.
Central India recorded a whopping 135% above-normal rainfall at 20.7 millimetres, data from the department showed. Rainfall in northwest India was 16% above normal at 7.1 millimetres. East and northeast recorded 10.1 millimetres of rainfall, 26% below the normal of 13.7 millimetres. The southern peninsula received 23% below normal rainfall at 5.0 millimetres.
Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Sunday was "large excess" in 10, "excess" in five, "normal" in five, "deficient" in seven, and "large deficient" in nine, the data showed. During Jun. 1-Jul. 6, the country has received 13% above normal rainfall at 241.8 millimetres, the data showed. End
