--IMD: India Jun 1-Jul 4 rainfall at 220.1 mm, 12% above normal 

 

MUMBAI – India received 9.3 millimetres of rainfall on Friday, 17% above the normal of 7.9 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Two of the four homogeneous regions across the country received above normal rainfall, while the other two recorded below normal showers.

 

Rainfall in central India was 61% above normal at 15.3 millimetres. Northwest India received 32% above normal rainfall at 6.0 millimetres. Rainfall in south peninsular India was 14% below normal at 4.7 millimetres, the data showed. East and northeast India recorded 8.5 millimetres of rainfall, 41% below the normal of 14.3 millimetres.

 

Of the 36 sub-divisions, rainfall on Friday was 'large excess' in six, 'excess' in two, 'normal' in nine, 'deficient' in 10, and 'large deficient' in nine, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 220.1 millimetres of rain, 12% above normal for the period, the data showed.  End
