NEW DELHI – Dabur India Ltd. Friday said the fast-moving consumer goods industry saw a sequential recovery in demand in the June quarter, with urban markets seeing an improvement in volume growth in particular. However, it expects the company's consolidated revenue for the latest quarter to grow in low single digits due to a decline in its beverages portfolio, according to an exchange filing by the company detailing its quarterly performance.
Its beverages portfolio was impacted by unseasonal rains and a short summer. Dabur India expects its consolidated operating profit growth for the quarter ended June to marginally lag its revenue growth. The company's Activ juices and Activ coconut water products are expected to report a growth in mid-teens for the period.
Dabur India expects key brands such as Dabur Red Toothpaste, Odonil, Odomos, and Gulabari to report strong growth along with market share gains. These brands are part of the FMCG major's home and personal care division. Within its healthcare division, it expects brands such as Dabur Honey, Dabur Honitus, and Dabur Health Juices to grow in double digits in the June quarter. Specifically, Dabur Honitus is expected to grow over 40%, it said.
The company's international business likely grew in double digits in constant currency terms due to growth in West Asia and North Africa markets, Turkey, Bangladesh, and its US Namaste business.
Going forward, the company expects favourable macroeconomic conditions such as forecast of an above-average monsoon, good agricultural output, easing inflation, and consumption-focused government measures to help its revenue growth trend higher in the coming quarters. "The fundamentals of the business remain strong, and we are continuing to invest behind our brands, expand our distribution reach, build a strong back-end and capture efficiencies to deliver good growth in revenue and profitability for the year," the company said.
For the March quarter, Dabur reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.20 billion on revenues of INR 28.30 billion. On Friday, its shares closed 0.7% higher at INR 495.10 on the National Stock Exchange. End
