Defence minister Singh, US defence secy discuss expanding bilateral ties

NEW DELHI – India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday discussed expanding bilateral ties with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, the Indian defence ministry said. Over a phone call, Singh and Hegseth discussed ways to "further augment defence ties with focus on expanding industry collaboration", the defence ministry said.
"Excellent discussion to review the ongoing and new initiatives to further deepen India-US defence partnership and strengthen cooperation in capacity building," Singh said in a post on social media platform X. "Conveyed my deep appreciation for the unwavering support extended by the US to India in its fight against terrorism. Looking forward to meet him at an early date."
The two leaders discussed wide-ranging issues, from long-term cooperation in the defence sector to expanding the industry collaboration, the ministry said in a release. Singh and Hegseth agreed to build upon "mutually beneficial partnership" across interoperability, integration of defence industrial supply chains, logistics sharing, an increased joint military exercises, the release said. Hegseth also invited Singh to the US for an in-person meeting to take "bilateral defence partnership forward". End
